MaP Graduate Symposium: a platform for doctoral students in Materials and Processes

Last Thursday, 22 June 2023, the 18th gathering of ETH Zurich's Materials and Processes community was held at the Zentrum campus. The event featured talks, posters, and networking opportunities. Over 180 people attended.

Once more, the MaP Graduate Symposium is history. An inspiring day of talks, posters, and networking provided a platform to doctoral students to present their research to a knowledgable audience.

Some statistics:

  • 233 people registered, of which 138 doctoral students
  • 183 people actually attended (21% no-shows)
  • 15 selected doctoral students held a scientific talk
  • 4 MaP Award Nominees - former MaP Doctoral Students - presented their research in a suspenseful MaP Award Final
  • 54 posters competed for the MaP Poster Awards
  • 25 research images were on display in the Audi Max foyer, competing for the MaP Best Image Award
  • 7 doctoral students were active in the organising committee together with MaP Doctoral School representatives
  • 6 companies supported the event as industry partners: Sensirion, Beiersdorf, BASF, IMT, Avantama, and Geistlich Pharma
  • 11 awards and prizes given out, including 4 industry poster prizes
