How to apply for a talk/poster
(MaP doctoral students only)
- Register for the MaP Graduate Symposium

- Fill in the template (abstract) and rename it appropriately by adding your surname and given name
- Upload the template to https://www.polybox.ethz.ch/index.php/s/1RE10qGJUD2lvqg
Submission deadlines
- 8 May 2024: Talk abstract submission deadline
- 31 May 2024: Poster submission deadline
- Applicants not selected for a talk will automatically enter the poster exhibition.
Procedure
Talk
- If you are selected for a talk, we will inform you on 22 May 2024.
- Prepare your presentation (10 minutes) and send it to us latest by 17 June 2024 (you will receive an upload link).
- A senior scientist, or postdoc will give you a personal feedback on your talk after the symposium.
Poster
- Prepare and print your poster (A0, portrait).
- Prepare a one-minute poster pitch to hold at the symposium
- Send one Powerpoint slide for your poster pitch to by 17 June 2024.
- Bring your poster to the MaP Graduate Symposium. You will receive your poster number at the registration desk.
- The poster number determines what time you will pitch your poster.
- A jury of scientists from the Materials and Processes community will select the best posters for the MaP Poster Prizes.
- Our industry partners are awarding additional thematic poster prizes (own selection).
The poster prize winners will be announced during the Award Ceremony on 20 June 2024.
Please note:
- If your abstract is selected for a talk you can't take part in the poster contest. You may, however, participate in the joint interdisciplinary presentations and/or the image contest.
- We believe that getting the opportunity to talk at the MaP Graduate Symposium is a prize in itself. There won't be any special prizes for talks.
- Only MaP doctoral students will be considered to present a talk or poster. Postdocs or MSc students may participate in the image contest and/or apply for a joint interdisciplinary presentation.
