MaP Graduate Symposium
The MaP Graduate Symposium & MaP Award Final is an annual event for the ETH Materials and Processes community. Originally organised by the MRC and MaP, it is now hosted by MaP Doctoral School. Each year, around 180 people attend the symposium, showcasing their research and networking across departments.

Important deadlines
- 7 May 2025: Submit an abstract for a talk/poster or an image for the contest
- 28 May 2025: Register for attending without contribution
Programme Details

- Twelve selected doctoral students
- will have the opportunity to hold a scientific talk in front of a large audience
- and provide insight into their Materials and Processes research projects.
- Attendees can answer quiz questions and compete for the title of the MaP Mastermind.
- Like last year, a postdoc/senior scientist will provide detailed feedback on the presentation after the symposium.

- Research posters from early-career researchers in Materials & Processes on display
- All poster presenters will pitch their poster in front of the audience in one minute (no visual aid)
- Attendees can answer poster quiz questions to enter the MaP Poster Jackpot and provide feedback on challenges that poster presenters have encountered in their research.
- MaP Gold/Silver/Bronze Poster Prizes for the best posters selected by a jury (contest for MaP doctoral students only)
- Additional thematic industry poster prizes

- The finalists (who will be selected at the end of March) will present their research
- to convince a jury of experts from academia and industry
- and determine the most promising doctoral thesis of ETH Zurich in Materials & Processes submitted in 2024
