[Soft] Productive First Session of the Advanced Machine Learning Course

The course 'Advanced Machine Learning Techniques applied to Microscopy Data Analysis' of the MaP Doctoral School Soft Track taught by Prof. Giovanni Volpe from University of Gothenburg (Sweden) started on 5 October with an intensive first course session.

by Barbara Lau-Hauser

From 5 to 7 October 2022, some fifteen doctoral students and post-docs attended the first block course of the 'Advanced Machine Learning Techniques applied to Microscopy Data Analysis'. Topics included 'Deep Learning and Dense Neural Networks', 'Recurrent Neural Networks and Transformers', and 'Convolutional Neural Networks'. During the intensive 3-day block, each student briefly introducted a research problem he or she is interested in solving during the course. Prof. Giovanni Volpe, head of the 'Soft Matter Lab' University of Gothenburg, as well as his teaching assistants Jesús Pineda and Henrik Klein Moberg were very satisfied with the student's work and dedication and look forward to returning to Zurich for the November and December course blocks.
