After two years of holding the symposium online, MaP doctoral students, professors, and industry partners were excited to gather in person again finally. Organised and designed by a committee comprising doctoral students and MaP staff, the programme featured 15 scientific talks, a poster contest with over 65 research posters, an image contest, a quiz, company presentations, idea pitches for a new transdisciplinary format, as well as plenty of opportunities for networking and talking about one's own research.

A special moment constituted the decision on the MaP Award. Tommaso Magrini (D-MATL), Nives Strkalj (D-MATL), and Alexandre Anthis (D-MAVT & Empa) each had 15 minutes to convince the MaP Award Jury with experts from academia and industry that their thesis is the absolute best in the field of Materials and Processes. After an intensive discussion behind the scenes, the jury decided for Dr. Alexandre Anthis, whose thesis on 'Design & Formulation of Stimuli-Responsive Surgical Material' was completed under the supervision of Prof. Inge Herrmann in the Nanoparticle Systems Engineering Laboratory (D-MAVT & Empa).
