Recap: Raman Workshop 2025 at ETH Zürich

From 4 to 6 June 2025, the 7th ETH Zurich Raman Workshop brought together experts and young researchers at ETH Hönggerberg to explore the latest advances in Raman spectroscopy and foster new connections in the field.

The 7th edition of the Raman Workshop at ETH Zürich has ended, and we’d like to take a moment to reflect on this year’s highlights.

Over three days, Raman spectroscopy brought together researchers and professionals for discussions, presentations, and hands-on sessions. The programme covered a broad range of topics; from fundamental studies to applied research in areas such as nanomaterials and biomedical diagnostics showing the growing impact of Raman techniques across disciplines.

What made 2025 special?

  • 175+ registered participants from academia, industry, and research institutes
  • 14 invited speakers covering developments in Raman instrumentation, ultrafast spectroscopy, AI-assisted analysis, and more
  • 4 Young Investigator Pitch winners who inspired some great discussions throughout the event.
  • Poster sessions with prizes selected by both the audience and the scientific committee
  • Live instrument demonstrations from 10 sponsor companies, offering insights from research to real-world applications
  • An interactive session for early-career researchers to connect with experts
  • An excursion to ETH spin-off Enantios, and informal apéros that encouraged networking in a relaxed setting

A key takeaway from this year was the openness of exchange, innovation progress and AI impact. Early-career and senior researchers sharing space, academia and industry learning from each other, and new ideas forming in conversations throughout the event.

A big thank you to everyone who contributed—by giving a talk, chairing a session, presenting a poster, showing equipment, or asking thoughtful questions. Your involvement shaped this year’s workshop. We’re also grateful to our sponsors for supporting the programme.

We're already looking forward to next time.
