Some thirty doctoral students, who had started their doctorate at MaP affiliated work groups recently, followed the invitation to MaP Doctoral School's annual Onboarding Event at ETH's Alumni Pavillon. After learning about the school's activities and its different tracks, they split up into smaller groups for a short round of introductions.
This year, the Onboarding Event was organised in collaboration with EPT Hub (Engaging Physics Tutoring). Dr. Vira Bondar, head of EPT Hub, also presented at the event.
After the "Afternoon of Science and Teaching", more people joined for a reception with snacks and drinks. Networking with fellow MaP people, they were eagerly awaiting the concert by Ukrainian a cappella band ManSound. The band had been especially flown in from Ukraine.
First, Prof. Lucio Isa, director MaP Doctoral School, and Dr. Vira Bondar had the honour to call ETH Rector Prof. Günther Dissertori and Iryna Vendyktova, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to Switzerland, to the stage of a almost full Audi Max. They both held a short speech before the concert.
ManSound played an amazing concert. They sang both traditional Christmas songs as well as Ukrainian songs. As a special, Vira Bondar played “Silent night” on her violin, accompanied by the a capella band. In the end, the audience stood up and gave the band standing ovations.
