Soft Talks
A monthly lunchtime forum to share research, spark ideas, and connect with the soft matter community at ETH Zurich.
The MaP Doctoral School Soft Materials Track hosted a new seminar series focused on soft matter science and mechanics. Taking place every second Tuesday of the month over lunch, the 'Soft Talks' offered ETH students and visiting researchers the chance to present their work in an informal, conversational setting.
The seminars aimed to strengthen networks within ETH Zürich while encouraging collaboration and knowledge exchange with leading international experts. The series culminated in the Soft Materials Symposium on 17 April 2026, featuring distinguished speakers sharing the latest developments in the field.
The Soft Talks were organised by Savannah Gowen (D-MATL), Xiang Kong (D-MATL), and Pietro Carrara (D-MAVT), and took place on site to encourage lively discussion and exchange.
